Dyke House Sports & Technology College

Attainment and Achievement through Creativity, Collaboration and Character

Y6 Transition

I am extremely proud to welcome you and your child to Dyke House Sports & Technology College.

At Dyke House College, we whole-heartedly believe in the value of education as a means of gaining knowledge to equip students with the understanding of the world around them and attaining skills which will enable them to be successful once departing our care. Our vision is that every student should have a love of learning, the acquisition of new knowledge, be inquisitive of the world around them and understand how their actions directly relate to their success.

We want to build a partnership with parents that lasts from when your child arrives in Year 7. We value the views, expertise, and support of parents. One of the keys to the success of your child's time at Dyke House is the strong working relationship between parents, teachers and children.

The key to this is constant communication. It is for this reason that we have an open-door policy and recognise the need for regular communication between home and the academy. All our families are welcome to visit the academy in addition to any telephone conversations that you may have with members of staff.

Please take the time to read through the attached material that contains important information about the academy, parent and student expectations.

Can I remind you that the following is the expected equipment that students should have with them every day at Dyke House College:

- Black pen

- Pencil

- Ruler

- Planner (provided by the academy)

- Scientific calculator (Casio fx-85GT PLUS)

-Reading book

- School bag

Again, let me congratulate you on your child's place at Dyke House and I look forward to welcoming you during Transition. Our induction evening starts at 5.45pm on Monday 16th July 2018. Here, you will be able to meet your child's learning guide as well as the year team. Further details regarding the evening will be sent out closer to the time.
